LAND O' LAKES - The producers of ABC's "Good Morning
America" will be in Pasco County today to tape
a segment on children's allergies – and a peanut-sniffing
dog – at the Land O' Lakes Branch Library on Collier
Parkway.
The national exposure comes not long after the Pasco
County Library System received statewide recognition
as the 2008 Library of the Year by the Florida Library
Association. Library Director Linda Allen said it also
coincides nicely with the library's People & Pets
Program, a joint effort with Pasco County Animal Services.
"It's really a very exciting time for us,'' Allen
said in a news release.
The network television program plans to interview a
Land O' Lakes family, whose 8-year-old son is severely
allergic to peanuts. The family has trained its dog
to sniff out peanuts from the child's food to protect
him from accidentally eating them. The family suggested
the Land O' Lakes Library as a place to shoot the segment
and library officials agreed.
A production crew is expected be at the Land O' Lakes
Library by 2 p.m.
